Operators list their available and upcoming facilities, and buyers such as enterprises, AI labs, hyperscalers, and HPC researchers use the platform to discover, compare, and request quotes from datacenters worldwide. Browsing and submitting RFQs (Requests for Quote) is completely free for buyers.
How do I find a datacenter with 5 MW available in Frankfurt?
Use the directory search at megawatt.market and set the Location filter to Frankfurt, Germany. Then apply the Power Capacity filter with a minimum of 5,000 kW (5 MW). Results will show all matching facilities with their current availability status. You can further refine by certifications, cooling type, or PUE rating. What does PUE mean and why does it matter?
PUE stands for Power Usage Effectiveness — the ratio of total power consumed by a datacenter to the power delivered to the IT equipment. A PUE of 1.0 is perfect (all power goes to compute), while 2.0 means half the energy is wasted on cooling and overhead. For a 10 MW deployment, the difference between a 1.2 PUE and a 1.6 PUE facility is roughly 3.3 MW of additional power cost every single year. Lower PUE reduces operating costs and carbon footprint.
Are listings verified?
Listings go through several levels of trust. PeeringDB-sourced stubs are labeled as such and may have incomplete data. When an operator claims a listing, it becomes Operator-verified, meaning the data is self-reported by the facility owner. A subset of listings earn the Verified badge after our team confirms key criteria: claimed status, full contact info, power and tier data, certifications, a logo, and a recent update. The verification status is displayed on every listing card and profile page.
How much does it cost to list my datacenter?
Listing is free. Every datacenter operator can create and manage a listing at no cost, including claiming PeeringDB-sourced stubs. Pro plans ($29/month) add analytics, RFQ notifications, and enhanced visibility. Featured plans ($199/month, limited to 3 slots site-wide) pin your listing at the top of relevant searches. Buyers always browse, filter, and submit RFQs for free.
How do I submit an RFQ (Request for Quote)?
Find the datacenter you are interested in using the directory or search. Open the listing's profile page and click the "Request a Quote" button in the sidebar, or go to the Contact tab and use the enquiry form there. You will be prompted to describe your requirements (power, space, timeline, contract length). Your RFQ is delivered directly to the operator's inbox if the listing is claimed, or routed through our admin team for unclaimed listings. No account is required to browse, but you need a free account to submit an RFQ.
Which datacenters offer liquid cooling?
Use the Cooling filter in the directory and select Liquid, Immersion, or Rear-door heat exchanger depending on your needs. Liquid cooling covers direct-to-chip water cooling; immersion cooling submerges servers in dielectric fluid; rear-door HX attaches to standard rack enclosures. Each listing's profile page shows the cooling type and maximum power density (kW per rack) so you can assess suitability for high-density GPU workloads.
Which European datacenters run on 100% renewable power?
Filter by Sustainable preset in the directory, or look for the renewable energy percentage field on each listing's Sustainability tab. Facilities with 100% renewable coverage typically use Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with wind or hydro generators, or operate in markets like Norway and Finland where the grid itself is predominantly renewable. The certification filter for ISO 14001 and LEED/BREEAM can also help identify environmentally committed operators.
What is the difference between colocation and hyperscale?
Colocation (colo) facilities rent out cage, cabinet, or suite space to multiple tenants who bring their own servers. You pay for power, cooling, and physical space by the rack unit or kilowatt. Hyperscale datacenters are purpose-built for a single tenant (such as AWS, Google, or Microsoft) and are optimized for massive scale at a single operator's requirements — they are not typically available for colocation. What certifications should I look for in a datacenter?
The most important certifications depend on your use case. SOC 2 Type II confirms security controls have been independently audited — essential for SaaS and enterprise data. Uptime Institute Tier III or IV certifications verify concurrent-maintainable or fault-tolerant infrastructure (99.98%+ uptime). How do I claim a listing for my datacenter?
If your facility appears in the directory (sourced from PeeringDB), navigate to its profile page and click "Claim this listing." You will need a free account. We verify your claim by checking that your email domain matches the facility's registered website URL. Once our team approves the claim — typically within one business day — you gain full ownership to edit all listing details, respond to RFQs, and apply for verification. If your facility is not listed, you can add it directly from the operator dashboard.
What is an SLA and what uptime should I expect?
An SLA (Service Level Agreement) is a contractual commitment from the datacenter operator specifying guaranteed uptime, response times for faults, and remedies (typically bill credits) when targets are missed. Standard retail colocation SLAs offer 99.9% uptime (about 8.7 hours downtime per year) to 99.999% (five nines, about 5 minutes per year). Wholesale and enterprise facilities often commit to 99.99% (four nines, about 52 minutes per year). Always ask for the SLA document and review the remedy clauses before signing — some operators offer credits as low as one day's fee.

What is a Tier III or Tier IV datacenter?
The Uptime Institute Tier classification rates a datacenter's redundancy and fault tolerance. Tier I (Basic) has a single path for power and cooling with no redundancy. Tier II (Redundant Components) adds N+1 redundancy. Tier III (Concurrently Maintainable) has multiple active power and cooling paths so maintenance can occur without shutting down IT equipment — the industry standard for mission-critical workloads, targeting 99.982% uptime. Tier IV (Fault Tolerant) requires 2N redundancy on all systems and can tolerate any single failure, targeting 99.995% uptime. Note that only facilities formally audited and certified by the Uptime Institute can legitimately claim a Tier certification.
